AI Video Competition: “Hope & Youths: Changing the Narrative

AI Video Creation

Showcase Nepal’s progress through the creative power of artificial intelligence. This competition invites you to highlight positive change, counter negative perceptions, and showcase developmental initiative focusing on hope and opportunities across any field—science, education, health, agriculture, transportation, tourism, technology, or other key areas within the country—and win prizes from the prize pool of NPR 1,00,000 distributed in the following way:

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: NPR 25,000
  • 2nd Prize: NPR 15,000
  • 3rd Prize: NPR 10,000
  • Honorable Mentions: NPR 5,000 each for 10 entries

Who Can Participate?

Open to all Nepali citizens, either as individuals or in groups.

Participation Steps

  • (Optional) Register for a beginner-friendly guideline session on AI tools.
    Note: Participation in the session is completely optional and does not affect competition outcomes. (Fill this form to get updates: Guideline Session Form)
  • Create your AI-powered video (see requirements below).
  • Post on your social media (facebook , instagram or tiktok) and tag IRD (find our social media handles on our website)
  • Submit your entry via the IRD competition portal. Link to submit: Submission Form.

To help you get started and sharpen your skills, IRD will host two focused guidance sessions:

  • Storytelling: Learn how to craft compelling narratives.
  • Using AI Tools for Video Creation: Practical tips and demonstrations.

Timeline

  • Entry Submission: July 8, 2025 – October 8, 2025
  • Guidance Session: Date to be announced
  • Demo Period: From October 16, 2025 (Top entries will be showcased on IRD social media)
  • Results Announcement: To be determined

Theme: Hope & Youths — Changing the Narrative

Create a 2–3 minute video highlighting positive progress in Nepal, in any field such as science, education, health, agriculture, transportation, tourism, technology, or any other area making a difference.
Focus on hope and progress that often go unnoticed. Your video should challenge negative stereotypes and highlight new opportunities in the country.

Video & Submission Guidelines

  • Length: 2–3 minutes
  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Resolution: Minimum 720p
  • AI Use: Creative and dominant use of AI is required; however, manual scripting is encouraged, and manual editing is permitted.
  • Originality: Real footage (if used) must be participant-owned
  • Disclosure: Clearly list all AI tools used in your video
  • Language: Any Nepali language (English subtitles encouraged)
  • Submission: Upload your entry via the IRD competition portal

Judging Criteria

  • Creative use of AI tools
  • Alignment with the theme
  • Positive messaging and effective countering of negative narratives in the country
  • Originality and content quality
  • Editing skills
  • Overall video quality
  • Effort and execution

Here's how it works:

What You Need to Do
1. Upload your final project video to any of your public social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
2. Tag IRD's official handles in your post:
Facebook: @instituteRuralDevelopment
Instagram: @ird_nepal
3. Ensure your post is publicly viewable so we can track engagement.
Multiple posts are allowed, but only the most engaged post will be considered.

While all prizes will be awarded based on merit, a few prize slots will be reserved for participants under 20 to encourage their involvement.

Disqualification If:

  • Insufficient use of AI
  • Copyright violation
  • Incorrect duration
  • Missing documentation of the AI tool used
  • Someone else creates or submits the video on their behalf
  • Providing incorrect information
